[08:43]<PCdoc> Is there anything like max hdd supported in desktop?
[08:43]<PCdoc> If the motherboard supports sata ports
[08:44]<+camerongray> Nah
[08:45]<PCdoc> A client brought a PC with Intel D101GGc motherboard, Pentium D processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB hdd, the hdd has giving signs of dying
[08:45]<PCdoc> so only available solution is minimum 500GB
[08:45]<PCdoc> 1GB RAM is DDR1
[08:45]<PCdoc> with 775 socket
[08:45]<PCdoc> processor
[08:47]<+camerongray> You shouldn't get any limit using SATA
[08:47]<+camerongray> Even with IDE the limit was only on very old boards
[09:00]<+Craig> No, IDE did have a transfer limit, and it wasnt just the board.
[09:02]<+Craig> PATA or Parallel ATA drives shared a 100MB/s transfer speed on the ribbon cable.
[09:02]<+camerongray> Ahh, I'm talking about capacity
[09:02]<+Craig> and it was limited to accessing the primary drive, and the secondary drive dependant on priority
[09:02]<+Craig> Ahhh
[09:02]<+Craig> :P missed that
[09:02]<+camerongray> lol
[09:03]<+camerongray> At least IDE is dead now :P
[09:03]<+Craig> Not fully, but its no longer being produced. :) Atleast for drives. :P
[09:04]<+Craig> The cables are still used in other applications, since the cable was not the limit.
[09:04]<+camerongray> Yeah
[09:04]<+Craig> The cable could do more, but the application of the new cables are for addon cards and other things. :P
[09:04]<+camerongray> Ahh cool
[09:04]<+Craig> anyway, gotta eat, talk to you later. :)
[09:04]<+camerongray> ahh, cya
[09:08]<PCdoc> Craig eating hard drive ?? :-o
[09:09]<PCdoc> camerongray: thanks for clearing my confusion :) You've been always a great help :D
[09:15]<+camerongray> NP
[09:24]<+camerongray> Having to rely on a MacBook as a WiFi AP at work :P
[09:25]<+camerongray> For some reason our new AP (WiFi card in ITX PC) can't reach beyond the cupboard it sits in despite having 2x 1ft antennae :P

[12:27]<Immental1200> Don't suppose anyone fancies putting together a report for me against an Austrian hacker who's got into a bank, blamed it on our servers and routed it through a major ISP? xD
[12:28]<Immental1200> I sense a fun two hours.
[13:46]<@Mulreay> I hate the bank
[13:49]<Immental1200> Turns out I've got to wait to do anything, looks like the Austrian Law / Police is getting involved. Awesome, saves me work1
[13:49]<Immental1200> work! *
[13:49]<@Mulreay> Yeah well my bank still sucks ass
[13:50]<Immental1200> My bank is cool
[13:50]<Immental1200> What's wrong with yours?
[13:50]<@Mulreay> It's a bank fot starters
[13:51]<Immental1200> Meh, I couldn't care less what they do with my money.
[13:51]<Immental1200> There's so little money in the account it's all covered by their insurance company that will pay out up to £160,000 in the case of financial unstability, bank loosing money, etc etc.
[13:52]<Immental1200> They'd be more than happy to pay out for the ... £200 I have in it xD
[13:52]<@Mulreay> Except when you have a debit card that's been out of date for about 1yr 4 months and companies can still take payments from it
[13:52]<Immental1200> Is it a VISA Debit card?
[13:53]<Immental1200> If so, contact VISA. They'll deal with you much better than any bank.
[13:54]<@Mulreay> They did this a year ago and promised me the payment could not go out again.. and it did. They refunded me last year and now they will have to do it again but sadly the dept that deals with this closes at 8 so I will have to phone again
